Published: 1/4/2016 in the Penticton Herald Psychologists tell us that humans beings are “Engineered for success, but conditioned for failure”. Apparently we listen to 180,000 no’s in our lifetime, (very few yes’s) 78 per cent of our illnesses are psychosomatic (self induced) and 74 per cent of our thoughts tend to be negative. Sounds pretty bad! Think about this scenario for a moment: You are boarding a flight, and as you do so you overhear the captain speaking with one of the crew to the effect that 74 per cent of the on-board computers are down! What would you do? I know what I’d do… get another flight! Seriously though, if humans are sabotaging themselves to this extent, is there any hope for us to create a new exciting future for ourselves? YES, ABSOLUTELY! How? By harnessing the power of your subconscious mind. If you take responsibility for programming it correctly, it’s like having your own Exocet Missile and having it home in on what you want to achieve in your life. For a moment, imagine a captain on the bridge of a ship, speaking down through a tube to the engineer below decks. Think of the captain as your conscious mind, and the engineer below representing your subconscious mind. The engineer is totally blind as to what is happening above deck, and has to trust implicitly in what the captain is filtering down. Your subconscious mind also believes everything that you feed down to it, and acts on it. It’s on duty 24 hours a day, and its one goal is to fulfill your wishes, as it interprets them. For example, if you get up in the morning, look in the mirror and say “I don’t feel well”, your subconscious takes that literally, and before you know it, you are sick! It’s important to make sure that what you are feeding down to your subconscious is positive and supportive of your overall hopes and dreams. Stay focused – believe you can, and you will! Evaluate your life as it is right now, and identify the problems and challenges facing you. If something isn’t working, put some fresh wind in your sails and change direction. Create some ripples. Even some small changes can make a difference. I had a client whose primary goal was to get fit. After just two months she felt much more energized and started making some extra sales calls. With the additional commissions she hired a secretary to do all the support work, which freed her up to see more potential clients. She became one of the top sales executives in the company. What would make a profound change in your life?
